| ****** Aus dem gleichnamigen Album von 1971. Einer der Geheimfavoriten der Beach Boys ... super!!! |

Last edited: 22.03.2015 23:12 |
| *** Ja, absolut ätzend! |
Last edited: 06.02.2011 20:31 |
| *** Ziemlich ähnlich wie der Song davor. Nur doppelt so lang. Und das hilft nicht wirklich...3.5- |
| *** wieder so eine surferei... |
| *** nichts besonderes |
| **** A good closing track.
|
| **** Tönt für mich auch eher nach "Sleep's Up"....:)

Knappe 4. |
| **** Ein bisschen gähn |
| **** akzeptabel... |
| ****** One of the most incredible songs ever!!!!!

This song was first conceived in June 1966 by Brian Wilson (Music) and Van Dyke Parks (Lyrics) on Brian's piano in the infamous giant sandbox that resided in the middle of his living room... this song has two distinct movements... like a piece of classical music, but done in a Pop/Rock manner... Pure musical genius...

There are three released versions of this song...

1. The Brian Wilson solo version from November 1966, performed live on Leonard Bernstein's four part documentary series on contemporary music that was screened on US television... this is simply quite stunning and amazing...like WOW!!!! Wipeout!!!...breath takingly beautiful... 6 / 6

2. The complete "SMiLE" version from December 1966, this is simply amazing & wonderful... It's deep yet simple instrumentation, gorgeous lead vocal by Brian throughout, delightful group backing vocals and brilliant production by a guy on top of he's game at the mere age of 24... 6 / 6

3. The 1971 "Surf's Up" album version... the first movement of the song is the "SMiLE" version, the second movement is a re-recorded version with Carl Wilson taking the lead vocal to lesser effect from the original... and the coda is a section from another "SMiLE" track "Child Is Father Of The Man"... 5 / 6 Last edited: 18.09.2014 11:14 |
Aufgerundete 6*.
Last edited: 29.09.2023 19:58 |
