Als ich diesen Song ca. 1991 zum ersten mal gehört habe, kam ich aus dem Lachen nicht mehr raus... Ich dachte mir "Was soll das denn jetzt??". Ein softer, melancholischer Song gegen den Krieg - zahm gesungen von Mr. Warzenstein Lemmy!

Grandios melancholisch. Ruhige Motörhead-Ballade, bei der mich die Drums allerdings etwas nerven. Die Streicher und die Melodie finde ich aber unglaublich schön. Kommt gänzlich ohne die krachenden typischen Gitarren aus. Genial.

6-, bei 1916 handelt es sich um ein für Motörhead untypisches Stück, da hauptsächlich Streicher zu hören sind. Das Lied schildert die Brutalität des Ersten Weltkriegs aus der Sicht eines 16-jährigen Soldaten.

wunderschöne, tieftraurige ballade über den ersten weltkrieg... genau das von dr. pilli angesprochene sanfte und softe macht den song aus: lauernd und nie wissend, was für ausbrüche noch kommen könnten - eben das macht dieses lied hart... es braucht nicht immer röhrende gitarren und growl-gesang, damit was hart wirken kann... sonst hört euch mal die version von I Don't Like Mondays von Tori Amos an. sowas von brutal, wie sie das mit sparsamer instrumentierung bringt... und motörhead waren da noch'n paar jährchen voraus...

Diese ruhigen Songs, die oft am Ende eines Motörhead Albums warten, sind meist etwas Besonderes. Aber nicht, weil sie so besonders gut sind, sondern weil sie mal etwas Abwechslung bieten vom Motörhead-Einerlei. Ob nun so ein in der Ich-Form erzählter Song über das Leiden der Soldaten im ersten Weltkrieg ein Thema für einen Motörhead -Song ist, sei mal dahingestellt. Ich finde ja diese Schwülstigkeit mit den Streichern und den Pseudo-Betroffenheits-Lyrics ein bisschen peinlich, aber man kann es sich schon mal anhören. Die Fans werden es sowieso lieben.
