das dritte album in der zweiten phase des bestehens der band. der einfluss des neuen keyboarders matt katz-bohen ist deutlich zu spüren, so elektronisch klang die band noch nie (und doch bleiben sie sich treu). für mich das stärkste album der band seit "eat to the beat".

Vom Schnitt her liegt das Album bei einer guten Fünf, doch da ich mich selten so auf eine aktuelle Platte gefreut habe, zücke ich gerne die Höchstnote. Blondie schaffen es wieder einmal, aktuelle Trends mit eigenen Ideen zu vereinen. Und Debbie übertrifft solche Hupfdohlen wie Rihanna, Lady Gaga und Co. jedenfalls mit Leichtigkeit!<br><br>Ich habe übrigens die Doppel-CD-Version, die als Bonus-Tracks "The end of the world" und "Sleeping giant" beinhaltet.<br><br>Meine Anspieltipps: "Sleeping giant", "What I heard" und die Single "Mother".

Verpasst die 5 recht knapp. Anfangs wirkt es erfrischend und abwechslungsreich aber schon nach ein paar Hördurchgängen hatte ich die ersten Songs satt. "PANIC OF GIRLS" ist grundsätzlich eine ziemlich tolle Platte. Sie enthält im Grunde alles, was das Herz eines Blondie-Fans erwartet: tolle Melodien, drängelnde Gitarren, Reggaesongs und natürlich Debbies Stimme. Tja, Debbies Stimme! Hier liegt auch das Problem dieser Scheibe. Ich werde nämlich das Gefühl nicht los, dass die hier ganz schön bearbeitet wurde. Harmonizer? Wahrscheinlich. Gepitched? Auf alle Fälle. Debbies Stimme ist nämlich im Laufe der Jahrzehnte dunkler und reifer geworden. Oh ja, sie kann immer noch ganz toll singen (zumindest als dieses Album erschienen ist) und hatte keine Hilfsmittel nötig. Aber sie klingt hier so jung, so ... dünn. Das ist nicht die Debbie Harry von 2011. Wer's nicht glauben will kann sich ja mal "POLLINATOR" anhören. Da wird es noch deutlicher. Oder hört Euch mal das Konzert aus Sydney auf youtube an! So klang Debbie Harry damals!<br>Schnell wird da aber auch klar, dass hier schlicht schlecht produziert wurde. "D-Day" ist für mich in der Studioversion ein ziemlicher Ausfall. Zu elektronisch, zu wenig BLONDIE. Live aber ... sehr gut!<br>"PANIC OF GIRLS" ist für mich ein tolles Blondie-Album, keine Frage. Die Produktion (zer)stört aber zu viel.
